Vermont lodging rooms

All the rooms in the Main House have been named after Hartness family members or people closely tied to the property throughout the years. Each photograph is accompanied by a quote from its guestroom diary. The guestbooks record the thoughts of our guests for the past decades and are a treasure of the Hartness House.  Our room guestbooks are available to our lodging guest to read and add their personal thoughts and memories.   High-speed wireless B Internet service is now available in all Main House rooms and common areas.

Room 1, The Russell Porter Room Vermont lodging

Vermont B&B lodgingI am sitting in this arm chair looking out the window at a winter scene in the waning light. I have been transported back to a time and place far from here. I can hear my mother downstairs doing what my mother did while raising five children in her house in Glasgow, Scotland. The cold, melting snow and leafless trees, it could be Christmas of my childhood. I don't know if this is a special place or if this is a special time but the aura is wonderful. The past can never return but anything that conjures a memory is magical. I need to remember that this is a business trip but feel that I am cheating my company with an expense report. Enjoy your stay, for today is the past of your tomorrow."

This cozy, dignified room features one double bed, private bath, hair dryer, TV, telephone,
and wireless B Internet.

So many architectural delights - the many window seats, blazing fireplaces, wood beams, polished floors, elegant stairway, spacious rooms make a visit to the house very inviting. Vermont country inn lodging and B&BThis morning before dawn I listened to the church bells ring the hour - it reminded me of the small town in New Hampshire where I grew up. I will take this room home with me in my mind so I can visit it whenever I want to recapture this feeling (I might invite a friend to share it with next time, though).
