3 miles off of I-91, Hartness House sits atop a hill above the
town of Springfield in the Connecticut River Valley.By Car, from Points South: Take I-91 North to Vermont Exit 7, then follow signs to Springfield, Vermont on Route 11. Go through 3 blinking lights, at next traffic light take a right onto Summer Street. At sign for 143 bear left up hill following sign to Hartness House (do not go on 143). You will see an old cemetery on your right, bear to the left and Hartness House is straight ahead. By Car, from Points East: Take I-89 North to I-91 South to Vermont Exit 7, then follow the above directions. Or take I-89 North to New Hampshire Exit 9, take NH 11 West, once you cross toll bridge over Connecticut River you are in Springfield, follow directions above. By Car, from Points West: From Albany take NY 7 East to VT 7 North to VT 11 East into Springfield. At McDonalds go straight through light. At next set of lights bear right, staying on VT 11. At next set of lights take left onto Summer Street and follow directions above. By Car, from Points North: Take I-89 South to I-91 South to Exit 7, follow above directions. By Train: Amtrak now offers service to Rutland, VT (just 30 miles from Springfield) aboard the Ethan Allen Express. We are happy to arrange shuttle service from the Train Station.
